Msgr. John Hughes who celebrated his 90th birthday last summer as well as his 65th year as a priest went home to the Lord early this morning just after midnight. He was surrounded by friends and brother priests who joined in prayer.
Msgr. John Hughes served as the pastor of St. Mary Magdalen for many years and had been in residence here as Pastor Emeritus. All totaled he was a member of our community for over forty years. He blessed every person who knew him and we are all grateful for the tremendous mark he left on our parish community. He provided all of us a wonderful example of living a Christ-filled life for others.
As a school, we will offer our 8:30am Mass next Wednesday morning as a celebration of his life. Please join us if you are able.
