The Spanish program at Saint Mary Magdalen School begins in Kindergarten where students learn many concepts including colors, basic numbers and days of the week, as well as songs, games and traditions like Navidad, Dia de Reyes and Carnaval.
The program continues through 8th grade where students work with conversations, translations and conjugations of verbs in the present, past and future tense. Elementary Grades K-4th has weekly Spanish lessons. The program for 5-8th grade includes two hours per week of Spanish instruction.
I created a set of practical workbooks based on the National Standards for Learning a Second Language. The goal of our program is to teach the language, the culture and to give our students the ability to develop the necessary tools to be successful in high school Spanish.
