Religion: Students follow the Archdiocesan Standards for religion which include reading Scripture, participating in the Liturgy, learning and applying the life of the saints and using the
Beatitudes as the guidelines to living faithful lives. They also participate in various acts of service throughout the year that instill the value of being the hands and feet of Christ in our community.
Language Arts: Our language arts classes are divided by grade level, and we offer both advanced and general courses. Our teachers guide students through novels, poetry, and plays, with an emphasis on literary elements and author’s purpose. Our goal is to create and develop a love and appreciation for reading and writing in each student we have the privilege of instructing.
Math: Depending on grade level, your student will be introduced to concepts such as integers, decimals, ratios, probability, geometry, statistics, polynomials, exponents, quadratic functions, graphing, and more.
Technology: Technology is integrated throughout the middle school curriculum and is supported by our 1:1 use of chromebooks to enhance and differentiate learning. Students practice and refine their skills by creating PowerPoint presentations and podcasts, designing on Canva, participating in the IXL math program, and conducting research.
Social Studies: Our sixth grade social studies curriculum focuses on early human civilizations, while students in seventh grade learn about the world from 500-1789 AD, and students in eighth grade study the rich history of our nation.
Spanish: Led by Maestra Gonzalez, students learn the rudimentary elements of the Spanish language and explore some of the customs of Mexico. They practice reading, writing, and understanding basic sentences in Spanish.
Science: Students journey through the California State Standards for Life Science,Earth Science and Physical Science. Topics of discovery include cell biology, genetics, evolution, Earth history, and structure and function of living things. Students participate in our science lab activities, and conduct research on pertinent topics.
Art: Our ArtTrek program is led by parent volunteers who have received training to teach art principles and projects to our students. The program fosters student creativity and develops their skills.
Music: Our middle school music curriculum, taught by Ms. Zandbergen, focuses on music theory, the singing of church hymns, and culminates with an end-of-the-year music showcase!
Physical education: The 6-8th grade Physical Education standards are incorporated into games, exercises, and team sports such as volleyball, basketball, and soccer. An emphasis is placed on sportsmanship and teamwork.
Extracurricular activities: We offer an enriching variety of extracurricular activities for your student to participate in. From sports teams to drama club to student council and more, your student is sure to find an activity on campus to join in on.
