Art Trek

The mission of the Art Trek program is to create a positive and confidence-building experience for the students as they problem-solve and take some artistic risk to produce individual work.  The lessons are designed not only to impart rendering, painting, and sculpting skills, but also to build student confidence and community ties.

The lessons follow the elements of art: line, shape, color, form, space, and texture. Materials for the lessons include pastels, acrylic and tempera paints, watercolors, clay, chalks, and colored pencils. Some biographical information and art prints of related great past art masters and recognized contemporary artists are incorporated into each lesson. The majority of the two 1-hour monthly lessons are devoted to student work.

Parents are encouraged to join the Art Trek program to serve as docents and guides as students explore and develop their artistic talents.
