Welcome
to Saint Mary Magdalen School
Since
this may be your first contact with Saint Mary Magdalen School and
perhaps you are considering us as an educational option for your
children, we would like to take this opportunity to share with you
our thoughts on Catholic education.
A
strong Catholic identity coupled with strong academics are the
hallmark of Catholic education. While strong academics does not
take much clarification, it is important to remember that our goal
is to provide every student with the tools and skills to be
successful in a college preparatory high school setting.
We
believe that in order to mold and shape Catholic/Christian
identity in our children calls for a total immersion
into the
culture.
Learning
a country’s language, mores and customs is best accomplished
with total immersion into the daily life of a people.
Likewise, if our hope for our children is to be a complete
Catholic/Christian, immersion into the Catholic / Christian culture
offers our best realization of this hope.
Here
at Saint Mary Magdalen, we not only study the traditions and
history of our faith but we carry this learning forward and
practice what we have learned. We create a school environment that
is conducive to making our faith a living conscious and active
experience. It is in the end our faith that carries us through the
valleys and mountains of life and gives us perspective. Living our
faith takes us beyond ourselves in that it teaches us to reach out
to others who may appear as less fortunate. It empties us of
ourselves.
While
this education is a cost of time and finances, it is an investment
for the future of the community as well as the world.
We can rest well knowing that we have done our best to
provide our children with a moral compass and that they are
capable of making a difference in our global world.
Our school,
grades K through 8, is located on the Gold Coast of California,
between Santa Barbara and Los Angeles.
St.
Mary Magdalen's Catholic School is accredited by the Western
Catholic Educational Association (WCEA). WCEA accredits
Catholic elementary and secondary schools in nine western states
(26 (arch) dioceses) and the US Territory of Guam. WCEA
co-accredits and is in partnership with three Regional agencies
(WASC, NAAS, NCA CASI) and two private agencies (CAIS and HAIS).
WCEA began in 1957 in San Francisco and has a long and
successful history of assisting school improvement through the
accreditation process.

Mary Magdalen School ~ Mission Statement
Philosophy
St.
Mary Magdalen Catholic parish elementary school provides
excellence in academics along with formation in Gospel values.
Like our hilltop Chapel, the school remains a shining tribute to
God, and an educational landmark serving the families of the
greater Camarillo area since 1954. In partnership with our
parents, we are committed to the education of the whole child,
academically, spiritually, socially, emotionally, artistically, and
physically.
Our
Catholic faith permeates a comprehensive academic program that
promotes critical thinking in a global society.
Inspired by the mission and ministry of Jesus, we provide
an education that emphasizes personal responsibility, acceptance
of diversity, the importance of compassion, and respect for
ourselves and others.
Vision
Saint
Mary Magdalen School will inspire in each student a love of
learning and social responsibility consistent with our Catholic
identity. We will provide strong academics enhanced by technology
with an emphasis on critical thinking. Coupled with a fundamental
moral compass directing each to serve, we will prepare students
for the challenges of a global society.
Mission
Through
differentiated instruction we provide an education designed to
individually challenge and motivate all students to reach their
full potential. Our rigorous, comprehensive standards-based course
of study promotes critical thinking and prepares students to be
leaders in a global society. In partnership with parents, the
mission of Saint Mary Magdalen’s K-8 program is to serve the
Camarillo community by providing an exemplary Catholic education.
